On Sunday, 10 August 2025, CATCH Trust proudly hosted the 4th Annual Imbokodo Cup Tournament, a vibrant celebration of girls’ cricket and rising talent from township areas.
Despite a brief one-hour delay due to field conditions, the energy on the day was electric. All participating teams kicked things off with a combined warm-up, setting the tone for a day filled with skill, teamwork, and determination.
Match Highlights
Game 1 – CATCH Trust vs Langa
Keen to redeem themselves after last year’s loss, CATCH Trust faced defending champions Langa in their opening match. Langa posted 19-1 in 5 overs, with Avene Peter taking 1 wicket for just 6 runs. CATCH Trust chased down the target with ease, winning by 9 wickets.
Game 2 – Gugulethu vs Crossroads
Gugulethu came out swinging, putting up an impressive 73-1 in 5 overs. Mbali Gqumayo top-scored with a blistering 27 off 13 balls. Crossroads fought hard but managed 28-4, giving Gugulethu a 45-run victory.
Game 3 – Langa vs Samora
Langa delivered a dominant performance, winning by 10 wickets.
Game 4 (Final) – Gugulethu vs CATCH Trust
In a thrilling final, Gugulethu batted first and posted 73-3 in 10 overs. Thembakazi Ngxishe scored 18 (20), with strong contributions from Lisekho Diniso (11 off 14) and Siya Tuswa (10 off 9).
CATCH Trust’s chase went down to the wire, with Yandiswa Mangele (15 off 12) and Somila Stofile (16 off 18) guiding the team home in the last over.
The result? CATCH Trust claimed the 2025 Imbokodo Cup by 3 wickets.
