Week 1: Kicking Off the SportSmart Futures Programme with Energy and Excitement

Week 1 of the SportSmart Futures Programme kicked off at an exhilarating pace! Participants began the session with an energizing warm-up on the field, led by the CATCH Trust Coaches, to get the blood flowing and set the tone for the day.

Following the warm-up, Nigel Mecuur introduced the Lucha modules, outlining what participants could expect throughout the programme. From engaging group discussions to hands-on activities, the participants remained actively involved—not just mentally but physically as well.

The CATCH Trust Coaches also introduced the fundamentals of cricket, allowing participants to get a feel for the sport while developing key skills. By the end of the session, participants signed a pledge, committing themselves to the entire programme—a powerful testament to their dedication and enthusiasm.

The energy and vibe of the day ended on a high, setting the stage for an incredible journey ahead. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks have in store!

The SportSmart Futures Programme is proudly brought to you by CATCH Trust and Lucha Lunako, and forms part of the Sport for Education and Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (SESLA) initiative.
