CATCH Trust Coaches Academy 2026 Launch

On Friday, 10 April, we proudly hosted the launch of the 2026 CATCH Trust Coaches Academy, a programme committed to developing the next generation of cricket coaches.

The morning began with a warm welcome from Lusindiso Malilwana, Cricket Programmes & Operational Lead, who introduced guests and the new cohort of aspiring coaches. Setting a unique tone, the programme introduction took a different a powerful approach this year.

Rather than the traditional overview, attendees heard firsthand from programme alumni, Bulelani Libazi and Sisizie Mongo, graduates of the 2025 Coaches Academy. Their reflections brought the programme to life, offering authentic insights into what the journey entails and the impact it can have.

Both Bulelani and Sisize were afforded the opportunity to coach at Kingswood College in the Eastern Cape for five weeks. Stepping into an unfamiliar environment, they embraced the challenge, navigating uncertainty with courage and determination. Through this experience, they not only developed as coaches but also grew as individuals, a true reflection of what the CATCH Trust Coaches Academy aims to achieve.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A with Gary Kirsten, who shared his experiences and insights from both his playing and coaching career. His words offered invaluable guidance and inspiration to the aspiring coaches in attendance.

CATCH Trust coaches and staff, also took a moment to express their gratitude to Gary for his ongoing contribution to the community and to wish him well as he embarks on an exciting new chapter with Sri Lanka Cricket.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Bat For A Chance for their continued support in helping us equip and empower the next generation of coaches.
