The past two weekends delivered outstanding cricket across Khayelitsha, with CATCH representatives making their mark in multiple teams and age groups. From the U11 Boys to the Senior Women and Men’s 1st XI, our players showcased skill, confidence, and the fighting spirit that sits at the heart of the CATCH programme. Behind every performance is the dedication of our coaches, whose daily investment in the players continues to shape both cricketers and young leaders.
24–25 January 2026
CATCH players featured strongly in both the Khayelitsha U11 Boys and Senior Ladies teams.
- Ongama Moyi was unstoppable in the U11 side, producing exceptional bowling figures of 3–2–2–6, a spell that turned the match decisively in his team’s favour.
- In the Khayelitsha Women’s 1st Team, Lindokuhle Batyi delivered a composed batting display, scoring 28 off 28 balls. Her match-winning contribution earned her the awards for Best Batter and Player of the Match.
These performances reflect the growing confidence of our young players as they transition from training environments into competitive match situations.

31 January – 1 February 2026

Senior Men
A historic moment came through Likhona Spandeel, who became the youngest player ever to take a five-wicket haul for the Khayelitsha Men’s 1st Team. He finished with outstanding figures of 10–0–41–5, a milestone achievement that will inspire many younger players in the programme. Adding to the celebration, CATCH alumnus Esona Tyatya anchored the innings with a superb 74 runs.
While the statistics are impressive, they represent something far deeper, the consistent work taking place on the training fields every week. CATCH coaches continue to invest time, structure, and mentorship into each player, focusing not only on technique but also on discipline, teamwork, and self-belief.
The determination shown by these cricketers is a testament to that guidance. Many of them began as beginners in CATCH hubs and are now competing, excelling, and leading in community teams. Their journeys highlight the power of opportunity combined with committed coaching.
These weekends remind us why we do what we do: creating pathways where talent can thrive. Congratulations to every player who represented CATCH Trust with pride, and to our coaching team whose unseen hours make these moments possible.
The season continues, and there’s plenty more to build on.
