A Week of Grit, Growth and Milestone Moments
It was a full and competitive week for CATCH Trust, with our Senior Girls, CATCH Representatives, and U13 boys all taking to the field. Alongside strong performances, we also celebrated two significant personal milestones, moments that reflect the continued growth of our players beyond the CATCH programme.

CATCH Trust Senior Girls vs Northern Cricket Union
After losing the toss, CATCH were sent in to bowl first. Northern Cricket Union made strong use of their batting opportunity, posting 138 all out in 16 overs.
There were some excellent bowling performances from the CATCH attack:
- Avene Pita – 4-0-43-3
- Liyabona Mjikeliso – 2.1-0-15-3
- Asekhona Tingatinga – 3-0-20-2
Despite the competitive total, the bowlers showed resilience and kept fighting for breakthroughs.
In reply, CATCH’s innings got off to a shaky start with early wickets falling. However, a composed and determined partnership helped steady the ship.
- Lilitha Bakubaku – 49* (46), including 8 boundaries
- Hlimisa Ngada – 14 (18)

CATCH U13 vs Primrose Hill
The morning kicked off with excitement as our U13 boys were eager to get going.
Primrose Hill posted a competitive 126/6 in 20 overs, led by Vedant with 41 off 27 balls.
CATCH’s wickets were shared around:
- Ongama Moyi – 2 wickets
- Lithemba Mlumiso – 2 wickets
- Oluthando Bokwe – 1 wicket
- Musa Mazinyane – 1 wicket
Chasing 127, Lihle January (20 off 30) and Mbasa Parafini (10 off 16) gave us a steady start before the breakthrough in the 6th over. The boys showed real fight and character but ultimately fell short in the chase.

This week was not only about performances, it was also about recognising important milestones, with Buhle Mfunelwa achieving an incredible milestone, earning his 50th cap for the 1st Team at Somerset College. A testament to his consistency, commitment and leadership at the highest school level and Ave Nkantini, who received his official 1st Team Cricket red baggy cap, a proud and symbolic moment marking his establishment in senior cricket. A well-deserved recognition of hard work and perseverance.
While results may not have gone entirely our way, the week reflected resilience, progress, and the continued rise of our players across different levels of the game. From senior girls stepping up under pressure, to representatives excelling in club cricket, to milestone achievements that mark long-term dedication, the CATCH journey continues to move forward with purpose and pride.
